Experience and Education

A highly trained, hardworking and independent master’s level dance practitioner with well-rounded contemporary dance training and teaching experience. I communicate in a friendly, polite and confident manner and I prioritise bringing an enthusiastic, positive energy to all that I do. I am comfortable working in range of dance contexts with different groups such as community dance projects. My performance skills are strong, and I can effectively choreograph for a range of age and ability groups in a contemporary dance style.

I am also a qualified level 2 gym instructor and level 3 personal trainer. This year I am working towards gaining the Healthy Dance Practice Certificate from Safe in Dance International.

Education

MA Dance: Advanced Practice
University of Chichester

Currently studying at The University of Chichester. Key modules include; technique, repertory, pedagogical approaches, artist as producer and MA dissertation.

My MA Dissertation is looking at whether dance can be choreographed in order to simulate a mindfulness meditation for the audience. This is based on the rationale that some people find meditation of-putting as they look into nothingness. I have had a longstanding interest in Mindfulness and so wanted to apply this to contemporary dance, through a kinaesthetic awareness perspective.

BSc Dance Science
University of Chichester

1st class hons recommenced from The University of Chichester. Key modules include dance technique, teaching dance and creative practice, applications of psychology in dance and exercise prescription for health and fitness, among others.

My undergraduate dissertation investigated the use of Performance Profiling as a motivational tool for Undergraduate and Postgraduate contemporary dance students. As part of this, I delivered an online Performance Profiling session and then interviewed the participants on their experience. It was concluded that the majority of the participants found it to be motivational, but it was unclear whether this would influence their future actions.
